The Gathering
The Gathering begins the UK's didjeridu festival season and is a great chance to catch up with old friends from all around the UK, make some new ones and listen to what everyone's been doing with their didjes over the winter break.The Gathering is also unique in that there are no set performances over the weekend, it's pretty much a non stop didje oriented open mic & jam session. You'll not only get a chance to listen to some great musicians but you can also get up and perform yourself in front of a friendly & receptive audience. Australia Day 'Didgeridoo-In'
Cost: Free entry - Bar available and BBQ Venue: The Royal British Legion House (Blandford) Australia Day Event - A fun, lighthearted event - Outdoor BBQ & "Beach Party" - indoor function room where we anticipate most of the action will take place.Modest prizes will be awarded for amongst other things the most melodic didge player, and the best accoustic ensemble to feature a didge. Another modest prize will be awarded fdor the most amusing explanation of why a boomerang didn't come back. Earth Cry
Listen to the Earth’s Cry The London Philharmonic Orchestra with Didgeridoo solo, played by William Barton. Peter Sculthorpe’s Earth Cry of 1986 combines the mystical sounds of the didgeridoo with orchestra to urge people to listen to the earth to find fulfillment and happiness in the future: an ancient message from Aboriginal inspiration with terrific resonance for our times.
